Release Notes Dub InterViewer, version 6.0 - September 2003
List of changes to Dub InterViewer:
| Sample | |
| When a sample containing properties with extremely high integers is imported an error message will appear. |
| When making an email invitation in Sample management it is now possible to quickly insert some variables (like URL of the questionnaire, username and password of the respondent) using the right mouse click. Also, it is possible to send attachments along with the mail. |
| The email will be sent as multipart mail (HTML or text will be chosen automatically). |
| Expressions | |
| Using the new expression type 'Function': maximum value/minimal value, it is now possible to store a value with a predefined ranking, for example the highest, second highest or lowest answer to a Numerical question with multiple items. |
| The underscore ('_') can be used when referring to a text question with multiple items. |
| It is possible to specify the length of a text variable. This can shorten the dataset. |
| The field 'Quarter' (Dutch: 'Kwartaal') is filled correctly. |
| Quota | |
|
Quota cells will be recalculated when a new dataset is created. |
| Quotas can refer to language codes from the sample |
| Names of quota cells should be unique (to avoid problems). |
| Check integrity | |
| The integrity check is executed much quicker. Also, it is now possible to choose not to check the content of conditions and expressions for an even faster check of the questionnaire's consistency. |
| The routing of Block control forms are checked as well as the existence of the codes of all variables. |
| When closing the Design screen after changing the design of the questionnaire, the programmer will be automatically reminded and enabled to rebuild the dataset. |
| If quota cells are used in expressions there will be a check to ensure all quota cell exist. |
| Bug fix: after changing question type all checked options of the original question will automatically be unchecked. |
| Response dataviewer | |
| The possibilities to filter data are greatly improved. Test data can be included or excluded (default is exclude). |
| The display of data is enhanced: All data of a maximum of 1000 respondents is shown on a page. A pulldown menu enables you to browse through respondents on different pages. |
| When open questions have been recoded the codes will be displayed as well as the verbatim answers. |
| Export | |
| When creating a new export, the export definition is stored in the database instead of in the automatically generated export folder. Export definitions created with prior versions of Dub QuestionMaker can be transferred to the database using the application DubConvertExportDef.exe. |
| In the export definition the export options are ordered in a more logical way. Through a new button in the task bar the export properties of a variable can be adjusted easily. Value '-1' will not appear again with the form kind 'Blockcontrol'. |
| In the new export properties screen of multiple and open ended questions it is possible to include the answers to other questions as well. |
| The date and time of the end of the conversation will be available in the export as two separate variables. Also, a new variable is added to the export: the date of the last try. |
| In multi language projects the language of the respondent will be stored in the dataset. |
| The automatic check for unique column names (for SPSS and Triple S) is enhanced. |
| The date will be exported to SPSS in a date format instead of a string format. |
| Export to Triple S is improved. The default export can be set to Triple-S in the application preferences in the Survey Navigator ((tab 'Export 2'). The character '&' will be displayed correctly in the exported texts. |
| Exchange files | |
| Bug fix: when the design of a Dub InterViewer project is imported into a new project the PanelMan links will also be imported. |
| It is possible to include an export definition in an exchange file. |
| HTML Output | |
| A variety of options can be selected when exporting to HTML in order to custome the content of the generated HTML version of the questionnaire. It is possible to include code book items, sample properties and links to/from PanelMan. |
| The order of the items will be identical to that of Dub InterViewer instead of in alphabetical order. If the condition of a question is 'false', the question will be displayed with a vertical red bar to indicate the question is not asked. HTML tags like: '<%~Name%>' will be displayed. |
| Other | |
| When creating a new CATI project, it is possible to indicate which non response screen should be used. |
| The project settings are grouped in a more logical way. In the tab 'Layout' -> 'Other' a customized image can be specified for the 'Help' button. |
| In the 'End of questionnaire' form a link to a URL can be specified. The URL entered here will overrule a possible URL specified in the project settings. |
| New: Design: Quick Synchronize | |
| Dub QuestionMaker's new option 'Design -> Quick synchronise' enables the synchronization of one project with high priority. New projects in Manage Frames will automatically be synchronized with high priority. |
| New: Design -> Optimise | |
| The option 'Optimise' will remove conditions of expressions that already have been deleted. This option will be integrated in the Integrity check soon. |
| Dub InterViewer | |
| It is possible to customize several screens of the interviewing module of Dub InterViewer (Interviewer logon screen, Contact screen, Appointment screen etc) by enabling or disabling the settings in the file 'DubCATISettings'. For instance the interviewer can either or not be allowed to alter name and address of the respondent in the Appointment screen or the call history of the respondent can either or not be displayed on the Contact screen. |
| The start time will be calculated from the first contact and not from the first question. |
| The time registration of the break times is corrected. Also, both the total break time of that day and the current break time of the interviewer is displayed when the interviewer is on break. |
| In the contact screen the call history of the respondent is displayed (if this option is enabled in DubCATISettings). |
| In CATI projects the form/question name will be shown in every question. |
| A callback appointment can be assigned to another interviewer (if this option is enabled in DubCATISettings). |
| No appointments can be made beyond the project's end date specified in the Planman. |
| Images added to items pop up questions will be displayed in the browser. |
| When the 'Search text' option in a single response question cannot find a match, the message 'Nothing found' will show. |
| Error messages will not contain HTML tags anymore. |
| Bug fix: when the option 'Display buttons in middle frame' is chosen a button will appear in the last question instead of the text 'Volgende'. |
| In the productivity screen of an interviewer the tries per hour are displayed. This is calculated with the formula: (worked time - time interviewing) / number of tries. |
| Aborted conversations are temporarily stored in the buffer. |
| When respondents who refused earlier are contacted again, their new results are processed properly, while their old results will be stored in a back-up. |
| When a given template is not found there will be no error message; the interview screen will have a white background. |
| It is possible to define your own 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons in the template. |
| New: trough a subscribe screen respondents can register themselves in order to participate to a questionnaire. |
| Manage frames | |

The menu contains a.o. the following options: Reload settings (quick reload of project settings), Start test interview (start a test questionnaire - WAPI only) and Edit CATI settings (to edit the settings of a CATI project). |
| In the productivity screens it is possible to filter on shift (morning, afternoon, evening). |
| It is possible for a supervisor to change the appointments made by the interviewers. |

| In the path \\Inetpub\Scripts the folder 'Dub InterViewer' is also recognized without a space. |
| In the menu option 'User management' two new user types are added: 'Project Leader' and 'Client'. |
| In the Analysis screen blanc open questions ('Empty allowed') will not appear as system code '99999999'. Also, the option 'All verbatims' now also contain the answers to 'other, specify". |
| It is possible to use a password specified in 'Global Settings' to shutdown Dub InterViewer. |
| Multiple language projects | |
| System texts will appear in the appropriate language. |
| A change in the language skills of the interviewer in RelMan is recognized quicker in Dub InterViewer. |
| The language of a respondent can be changed by the interviewer on the Appointment screen and Edit Respondentdata screen. |
| Multiple language questions can be copied to/from the Library without losing the additional languages. |
| Test modus | |
| The test modus does not use sample records anymore. Only when the referral from the questionnaire to properties from the sample should be tested, it is necessary to add records and threir properties to the sample. |

| Ratio (formula: amount of completes / amount of interviewed hours) will not be affected by the amount of hours spent on recoding. |
| Online reports | |
| The online reports can be generated by Dub Man on a periodical base instead of after each successful interview. |
| The results of an X-point scale can be displayed. |
| The labels of questions will appear instead of the system codes (like 'Empty allowed' for '99999999'). |
| Other | |
| The login procedure of CATI projects on a remote server is better protected. |
| It is possible to have the log files stored in a directory of your choice. This location can be specified in the 'security.ini' file. |
| After adding a new member, the system will retry to find/create a PanelMan ID until it succeeds (so nothing will be stored with ID number 0). |
| Multi servers: when the status of a project is changed on one server the status of the same project will automatically change on the other servers as well (where applicable). |
